IndieBEST is an Austin based charitable organization that was initially created by independent artists as an emergency response to the Central Texas wildfires. However, with the incredible outpour of immediate public support, much of Bastrop County’s basic needs such as food, clothing and supplies were not only met but in several cases overwhelmingly exceeded that many donations had to be turned down. In light of these circumstances, we determined that a shift in our focus was necessary. We came to realize that the devastating toll of the wildfires would require a long-term solution to bring relief to survivors. Rather than a single fundraiser event with a one-time disbursement of funds, we have decided to broaden our scope to better meet the ongoing needs of the community.

The aftermath of the wildfires that began on September 4th left nearly 1,600 homes and over 38,000 acres of Texas landscape destroyed. Disasters such as this scar more than just the land but the community itself. It is during these times that communities need more than just their homes rebuilt, but their spirits as well. Our mission: “to foster, mentor and support the next generation of artists that have been affected by natural or man-made disasters and/or personal hardships” was created to help artists rebuild the soul of their community.
